Heelwork to Music
Course
-
Do you have a
dog that needs more stimulation than just walking? Find
obedience training boring? Or just want to have some fun
and form a better bond together? Well, I am pleased to be
able to tell you that I have now devised a new training
course which will tick all of those boxes and more. The
Heelwork To Music Course is my latest idea to improve your
dog’s behaviour and have fun at the same time.
For those of
you who aren’t familiar with heelwork to music, it is
basically a choreographed routine to music incorporating
obedience (heelwork, sit, down, etc.) with tricks to create
an overall entertaining routine. In this course, you the
handler will have 8 weeks to obtain the following from
scratch:
-
Choose & teach your dog 5 tricks from a pre-written list - Teach your dog a required element chosen by the
instructor - Choose a good piece of
music - Choreograph a routine to the music incorporating all 5
chosen tricks and the required element - Rehearse the routine
The 8th
week of each course you will have to perform your finished
routine in front of a panel of judges and will get scored on
various categories, such as music choice, technical ability
and entertainment value. The double act who impresses the
judges the most and comes away with the highest score gets a
certificate and a rosette for their trouble! This is a very
intensive course and will require a lot of effort, but I
can’t tell you how much fun heelwork to music is and how
rewarding it will be when you manage to turn your dog around
in just 8 weeks. It takes the seriousness out of
obedience!!!

NEW!!!!
Flyball Course
- A fun and energetic
course for those of you with dogs who love playing with toys.
Flyball is famously demonstrated by Border Collies at dog shows such as
Crufts but is great fun for any breed of dog with a lot of energy & a
playful nature. This course is both mentally & physically
stimulating for your dog with the emphasis firmly on you having fun
together. The rules are simple. You need to teach your dog
to jump 3 jumps in a straight line, retrieve a ball from the Flyball box
& return to you over the same 3 jumps. You can't accompany the dog
& if he drops the ball or runs round the jump he loses points. A
lot harder than it sounds!
6 week course, 1 session
per week. Class capped at 6 dogs.

NEW!!!!
Rally Obedience -
Rally
Obedience is the latest doggy trend sweeping America.
In short, the dog and handler must complete a course of
designated stations (approximately 10). All the stations are
numbered & each of them has a sign providing instructions
regarding the next skill that is to be performed, such as
‘Halt & Sit Down’, ‘Left About Turn’ or ‘Down & 10 second
Stay’. Scoring is not as rigorous as traditional
obedience and the emphasis is put on a smiling owner and a
wagging tail. Infact, with Rally Obedience points are
actually
deducted for
harsh commands or over excessive force because the whole
point is that it’s a relaxed obedience contest where
anybody, even kids, can enter and just enjoy doing something
with their dogs. There are 4 stages of difficulty;
Novice, Intermediate, Advanced & Excellent. The number
of stations & the difficulty of instructions will increase
with each new stage of competence.
The beauty
of Rally Obedience is that there’s no need for a fixed
course because it’s an ongoing sport where you can
continue to improve your finishing score the more you
attend. So, as with the play groups, these classes are
held on a 'pay as you go' system, just turn up on the
day. This way, each time you attend a class it
will be equally as much fun because not only will you be
working towards improving your previous score, but
you’ll also have different teams to compete against so
no two classes will be the same.
For more information, please call the number above or

The
cost of Rally Obedience is
€10 per team, per class

fantastic way to, not only train your dog, but also to socialise him.

FEEDBACK FOR GROUP
TRAINING CLASSES
I would just like to say a HUGE
thank you. The agility course was so much fun, don't know who
enjoyed it more - me or Fudge (honestly, I would say me!!!)
Keep up the great work Lindsay. x - Ann & Fudge, Agility
Course
We
can see every day how much better George is as a result of the training
- his sit-stays, returns, lets us through doors and gates first etc -
all are evidence of what he learnt. He is also particularly good at
obeying the "leave" command. The course was absolutely fabulous.
We both thought that the areas covered for beginners was just right. We
also both think that it gave both us and George far more confidence in
each other. It was also great fun!! - Karen, Keith & George,
Obedience Course
Excellent! Training was very good, just like I expect. Many thanks
for the teacher! - Maile & Jordan, Obedience Course
We really did enjoy this course.
Pity Jude didn't think it was necessary to jump the jumps, but, hey, you
can't have everything.......!!! - Val & Jude, Flyball Course
The service was excellent.
Thank you. - Angela & Maya, Obedience Course
I was very pleased with what you did,
especially your kindness in giving Prince a private first lesson so that
we were able to catch up with what the group had learnt in their first
lesson. Your help & encouragement brought out the best in the dog and he
really tried hard to learn how to do what we wanted even though he is
quite a big, heavy chap. Thanks very much, we both really enjoyed
the course. - Diana & Prince, Agility Course
Emma and I enjoyed our training
sessions and both of us benefited from Lindsay's help and advice.
Definitely a worthwhile experience. Thanks, Lindsay. - Carole & Emma,
Obedience Course
Just to let you know that Chalky,
Charlie and I had a brilliant time doing the agility course, our
Saturdays are not the same! When we started on the first day I
thought, there is no way these two are going to do any of this, but I
was proven wrong!!! Thank you! - Libby, Chalky & Charlie,
Agility Course
I sincerely do not know of any
improvements you could make. It was a great learning curve for us
both. Thank you for all your hard work and attention. You are fab!!
- Ann & Fudge, Obedience Course
Georgia and I believe that it was
very important to us and especially to Spot to take part in your
course because we learned how to react in several occasions that
involve his obedience and his general behaviour. Now, we find it
more easy to handle our little baby and helped us decide to adopt
one of his future babies. Thank you very much, it was a lovely and
fun experience and we believe that the whole course was value for
money - Nikolas, Georgia & Spot, Obedience Course
Jasmine and I are quite sad this
course has come to the end for us as we enjoyed it so much for lots
of reasons other than the agility side of it. It helped Jasmine
learn some doggy manners whilst around other dogs, then rewarded
with a playful 'run around' has worked wonders for her as she never
really had the chance to do that here in Paphos with the
restrictions of letting your dog off without a lead. The
course is BRILLIANT and brings a real bond between dog and handler.
We had so much fun doing this and a great way for us both to get
fit! Thanks again Lindsay for your excellent expert advice and
coaching to get Jasmine over that see saw! Keep up the good work,
you're the best!!! - Karen & Jasmine, Agility Course
I found the class good
particularly with a small group and felt, as I have said, big
progress was made. She disrupted class once or twice but will
always be mischievous I think! She did try hard though and did
really well. Trying my hardest to think of something negative
but can't!! - Jen & Gully, Intermediate Obedience Course
I enjoyed the
course very much and so did Vassilis. I found everything in it
very very helpful and fun which is a great combination! I also liked
the fact that there were lots of different breeds on the course,
diversity is helpful for the dogs as well as the owners! Thank
you for everything - Dorothea, Vassilis & Snoopy, Obedience
Course
Thank you for an enjoyable
training course, your training expertise and the fun we had.
Look forward to seeing you again in September for the Agility
Course! - Ann & Sasha, Obedience Course
Agility course was good fun --
Jude and I enjoyed it immensely. Can't think of anything you could
have done better. You were on hand when anyone needed you. - Val
& Jude, Agility Course
Many thanks for the pics. And,
yes, it was a good course. It was also a good cross-section of dogs
and, especially, people. We certainly enjoyed their company. And,
yes, you're right, I don't think Peter will ever see a figure of
eight in quite the same way!!!! We'll continue with the good
work you put in. Well done, you! - Val & Jude, Intermediate
Obedience Course
Thanks for the course. We enjoyed
it and enjoyed the progress with Pudding and I think the value
for money was fair. Have a great summer and we'll be back for the
agility in September - Ann & Pudding, Obedience Course
I thought the intermediate course
was very good for Jake. He was able to achieve longer stays and it
improved his obedience when there were distractions of other dogs.
I never thought I would be able to have him off the lead and walk
around other dogs and him not want to jump all over them. When I
think back to last August after I first got Jake and would cry on
the walk because he would nip me when things weren't going his way I
am so pleased he seems to have finally realised we can have fun
together without him inflicting pain on me. I feel that our bond
has improved with the help of all your training and can't wait to
start heelwork to music! I would like to go on the next
intermediate course with my other dog Evie after the summer break
please, I don't think she will ever be as obedient as Jake but I can
but try! - Laura & Jake, Intermediate Obedience Course
Hi Lindsay, just to let you know
that if you ever need a reference for your classes for potential
customers, feel free to give them my number and tell them to call
me. We really enjoyed the course and although we couldn't
complete it due to Molly's health, the most important thing we took
away from it was the anti poison training as Molly did have a
tendency to pick things up in her mouth when out walking.
Thanks very much - Kevin & Molly, Obedience Course
Thanks a lot Lindsay. We all
enjoyed the experience, though I don't know that Cleo is likely to
become a Flyball champ! - Carole & Cleo, Flyball Course
That was a great class Lindsay -
thanks- and I'm saying that not just as a dog owner but as an OLD
Infant teacher! I hope you're as pleased with your pupils as I'm
sure all of us must be. Although it's helped Lucky heaps it's
probably been even better for me as I was frightened of dogs for
many years but, thanks to you and Lucky, I feel happier about
handling him now. Can't think of any improvements to your
Obedience course as, for me, it was perfect. - Jean & Lucky,
Obedience Course
